The Hunger Games is the first installment in the award winning book trilogy The Hunger Games, that follows the main character, Katniss, as she prepares for, and while she is participating in the 74th annual Hunger Games.
Plot[]
In a dystopian future, the country of Panem is divided up into 12 districts and the Capitol, where the country's leaders and wealthy live. Each year, two representatives, one male and one female, are offered up in tribute to participate in the annual Hunger Games, a brutal game in which the participants are forced to eliminate the competition, while keeping themselves alive.
When Primrose Everdeen is selected to participate in the games, her older sister Katniss Everdeen volunteers in her place. Katniss and her male counterpart from District 12, Peeta, are pitted against the bigger, stronger representatives from the other eleven districts, some of whom have been training for this their entire lives.
